Success at CU

Success at CU: Student at InternshipCreighton students have a habit of succeeding. They do interesting research in their fields and snag very selective internships. They compete against their peers at other institutions in various academic activities and for national scholarships. They do good in communities near and far.

Undergraduate research

Undergraduates do hands-on research at Creighton. Because the graduate and professional schools work with our undergraduate colleges, students can experience advanced studies in their field long before they might at other schools. Some of them even get scholarships from the College of Arts and Sciences to carry out their research.

With all these opportunities, it's no wonder U.S. News & World Report named Creighton among the nation's Top 10 undergraduate liberal arts colleges for success in involving undergraduates in research.

Internships

If you want to pick your own real-world experience, Creighton has more internships than it can fill with more than 22,000 listings every year. Maybe you want to spend some time at a Fortune 500 company? Take your pick—there are five with headquarters a few miles away from Creighton.

"Creighton interns have a knowledge and maturity level that not only makes them a true asset to our team but also allows them to learn how to make real world investment decisions."

Creighton Athletes Bring A-Game to Classroom

Creighton University has had its share of success on the field and court, but that's not the only place student-athletes excel.

In the spring of 2010, Creighton student-athletes participating in the university's 14 Division I sports achieved their highest GPA, 3.35, since the University began tracking grades in the early 80s.

In addition, in May 2010, Creighton was awarded NCAA Public Recognition Awards for ranking in the top 10 percent of all squads in men’s golf and women’s volleyball, women’s cross country and women’s golf.

The NCAA's Academic Progress Report showed that Creighton’s teams had an average score of 977.6 compared with 969 nationally for those same sports. The report examines all sports programs and evaluates them in terms o

Students Study Gulf Waters Ahead of the Oil Spill

Creighton University's students are on the ground (or, more accurately, in the water) in the Gulf of Mexico.

They have been studying the current state of the marine life with Creighton Biology Professor John Schalles. By taking measurements and samples of the water and underwater photographs and other observations of life, they are helping to create a snapshot the area's current state.

Should oil from the BP spill reach this part of Florida, researchers will now have an accurate picture of what this part of the gulf was like before the contamination. In thi

Honors Program Senior Spotlight

Current seniors in Creighton's Honors program presented their research at Honors Day on April 21. They also provided to the Honors Program information about themselves. Here we present the first three of these scholars (in alphabetical order):
